The Brief
This childcare facility based in Solihull, UK was rebranding under parent company, the YMCA. They were looking for a logo that was instantly recognisable as a nursery, but yet not too playful. The logo needed to represent the professional nature of the business, which would hopefully inspire trust and lead to an increase in new sign ups. Importantly, the design would need to work well when embroidered onto uniforms.
The Solution
The design uses common building block shapes (which represent the foundations of a strong education), arranged in a way that leave a bear shape in the negative space.
The blocks are arranged at a slight angle to give the design some character, and to balance this, the bear’s nose is aligned slightly to the left to compensate.
The design is paired with a font called Kanit Black, and I rotated each character to take the corporate edge off.
